Does Regulatory Quality Drive Prosperity?

An interactive exploration of regulatory performance across over 50 countries, and what it means for economic outcomes.

Do better regulations lead to better outcomes? We analyzed data from the World Bank's Business Ready framework to explore the relationship between regulatory quality and real-world results, from GDP growth to environmental impact.

This project was built for the 2025 World Bank Data Dive.

The framework: The B-READY index measures three pillars of regulatory performance—the quality of laws, the effectiveness of government services, and real-world operational efficiency—across eight business topics.

Data: World Bank B-READY Database, Governance Indicators, and World Development Indicators
